A Floyd
County woman who killed her two children and then
herself Wednesday had been diagnosed with terminal
cancer, police confirmed for 11Alive News
Friday.
Authorities said they learned through
interviews that Gina Davis had expressed concerns to
friends about the welfare of her children after her
death. She was also taking medication for the treatment
of depression.
The bodies of Davis and her
12-year-old son, Blake, were found inside a bedroom at
their mobile home. Her 7-year-old daughter, Presley, was
lying in the bathroom. Law enforcement officials believe
the daughter may have run into the bathroom to hide.
“At this point, we’re speculating that the young
boy was shot first as he was laying on the master bed
and then young girl was shot,” said Floyd County Det.
Dan Bickers.
A .38-caliber revolver was found
beside Gina Davis. Her boyfriend discovered the bodies
when he went looking for the family, police
said.
