The hepatotoxicity of
antidepressants is welldocumented, especially in
the case of tricyclic antidepressants and
monoamineoxidase inhibitors (1). Newer
antidepressants that inhibit serotonin reuptakeare
thought to have little hepatotoxicity (1). We
report a case of liverinjury related to the intake
of sertraline.
In November 1996, a
44-year-old woman presentedwith
jaundice. Her past history included three
uneventfulpregnancies and the discovery of
hypothyroidism ascribed to a goiter in1993. At
